I am repairing a fried Viewsonic P225/P815-4 (bright vertical line in
the center of the screen) and can't find a diode anywhere on the net.
I have the schematic thanks to someone who had the exact same problem
some years ago but as part of the horizontal drive circuit, I need to
find a diode (D555) which is in parallel with Q555 (a 2SC5423). The
diode is listed in the schematic as a PG127S17 (and also on the
device).

Can anyone point me to a source/cross for this device? I found the
2SC5423 several places ranging from $2.66-$20USD (I was surprised to
find such a disparity). www.slelectronics.net actually has a kit with
related components specifically to repair these Viewsonic monitors
which is nice but it doesn't include this diode.

I'm probably going to be looking for electrolytic caps for this too
since this is my everyday monitor and it was manufactured in 2001.
Any US mail order source for caps would be helpful, too (digikey,
electronix.com, ...). Has anyone used the Capacitor Wizard or the EVB
ESR tester? Happy with them? Any better way to identify "tired"
caps?

Thanks in advance

FWIW, a datasheet is available from
http://www.bdent.com/cgi-bin/start.cgi/bd_search_schematics.html

It is a "super high speed switching" damper diode rated at 1700V, 10A,
0.7usec in a TO-3PF package.
