Did p-channel MOSFETs in TO92 vanish?

Hello All,

After a recent thread started by Jim Miller another question comes to
mind: On one of the rare occasions where I had to look for non-SMT stuff
I was surprised by the dearth of TO92 packaged p-channel MOSFETs. At
least there were none with a leadtime below a few light years. I guess
there just isn't any market for them anymore.

Are there any left?

TO92 ? Forget this case.
Well, there are absolutely great ones on SO8, such as the
IRF7416 or the FDS6575. They are hard to beat. Both in the
order sub 20mOhm and 10Amps

Agree. But in this case I was looking for a part that could be used in
prototype rework and that is very tough with any SMT package. Especially
if you need an "aerial sub-circuit". I guess in German that would be
called a Sauerkraut solution.

It's no big deal to buy n-channels in TO but p-channels seem to be history.

Both All American and Mouser stock both VP0106N3 and VP0109N3,
the cool parts we have 10-decade curves for in AoE, page 123.
Mouser has 1,178 of the 60V 8-ohm VP01 part, at $0.59 each.

Hi Spehro,

http://www.supertex.com/pdf/datasheets/VP0808.pdf

A whole 91 in stock at Arrow.

Thanks, that could help with the next case. Usually the need is only for
a dozen or so. And as a kid I learned that it isn't polite to polish off
the last pieces of candy from a tray but always leave some for others ;-)

Hi John,

Thanks, I had overlooked the BS250 in the catalog. Thou shalt not read a Digikey catalog without the glasses.

It's RDSon is a bit on the high side but nom 14Ohms is ok for most apps or two can be used in parallel.

Thanks. Wow, these are even 8Ohm parts which is pretty much the same as
the BSS84.

I prototype with the Fairchild 'BSS110', Ptype TO-92, 50V, 10ohm, logic.
Standard stock item from Farnell (UK).
