Sad when you have seen what it grew from, to end up like this.

Dick (the real one) must be somewhat disappointed.

** Just heard the man being interviewed on radio 2GB; forget "disappointed" and think "very pissed off".

He also re-asserted his intention to run for the Federal seat of Mackellar - head to head with primary school friend Browyn Bishop - as an independent candidate.

BTW, the assets of DSE will be up for sale later this year and the famous name is one of them. It is not likely to disappear.

Imagine a new DSE, run on the lines similar to Aldi where all products carry house brands. Dick might even to TV ads for them.

Dick (the real one) must be somewhat disappointed.

He must have had half a clue as to what might happen when he sold it
to Woolworths.

I doubt it, after all Woolworths ran it as Dick did for many years
before fucking it up.

Woolworths have fucked up again with Masters, losing $1b... their first
loss since listing 23 years ago.

Ouch...

The worst part is that the incompetent idiot responsible for that
debacle will probably get golden handshake!

Woolworths is posting losses in the news but I heard in a Masters store
today a bloke congratulating a meeting of staff for the fact that they
had saved 7 million last week with their new policies.
I do not know what psychological game they are playing.
they spent heaps at gregory hills revamping the store and opened a new
one in the western suburbs in the same week they announced they were
selling the lot .

Stupid shareholders vote these people in.
In this case, the "voters" see themselves and what they want.
They are not the mug shareholder.

Think of it as a very large ship where the bridge is still scratching their arse
trying to work out wtf to do and the everyone else just continues implementing
the last set of orders they received.

At least Gregory Hills isn't just down the block from a Bunnings(AFAIK) like all the
other hardware chains. Given time, it should pick up a bit of extra passing trade
as every motor related transaction, and more, has moved to the block next door.

They getting closed down as they are bleeding cash. Masters was never in
the game.

Mmm... I partly agree with that but not entirely.
It was more a gradual decline during that era.

Yes, almost certainly they will.

Inevitable IMO.

Sad when you have seen what it grew from, to end up like this.

Dick (the real one) must be somewhat disappointed.

Just heard the man being interviewed on radio 2GB;
forget "disappointed" and think "very pissed off".

That was much more about the way it was looted.

He also re-asserted his intention to run for the Federal
seat of Mackellar - head to head with primary school
friend Browyn Bishop - as an independent candidate.

He's always been a complete dick head.

BTW, the assets of DSE will be up for sale later this year and
the famous name is one of them. It is not likely to disappear.

Imagine a new DSE, run on the lines similar to Aldi where all products
carry house brands.

It would never be viable as a bricks and mortar operation anymore.

Not a chance and its nothing like what it was.

Yes, that's why Woolys flogged it for what they could get for it.
