detecting mobile devices

Hi
I am looking to build a circuit or to hack an existing device that can
sense an incoming call or an out going call from a mobile device, from
5~4 meters

I was able to use normal gadget that blink when an incoming call is
registered.
The problem is that they don't work well with 3G phones like the Nokia
6630.
Any ideas how can I build a circuit
Or if there are existing devices on the market?

Thanks

Maybe some of the "Bugging" sites may have the snoop circuit you so desire.

Hi
I don't want to listen to the conversation,
I am building an art installation that talks about communication over
mobile devices as a cultural phenomena
As people use mobile devices around the art piece they activate it
So
any help will be appreciated

1: find out what frequencies the mobile devices operate on,
(I think 3G is 2.4GHz)
2: build (or purchase) recieverrs for those frequencies.
3: adjuste the sensitivity of the receivers (or antennas)
to detect only nearby devices.

Bye.
