If a re-invention of the wheel. I got much the same question out of a friend who worked at EMI Central Research when I was working on a electron beam tester (that looked at individual transistor level on the surface of a working integrated circuit) back at the end of the 1980\'s.

The answer was the same. if rather less well-documented.
