Denon AVR-1601

Hello,

I have a Denon AVR-1601 receiver. Recently I heard a "pop" noise (from the
speakers) then the receiver went into standby. Every time I try to turn on
the receiver it goes though a bootup sequence then goes back into standby.
I have disconnected everything from the receiver (including speakers) then
tried to turn it on - it still does the same thing. I have heard that many
people have had this problem with this particular receiver and that the fix
is quite simple. Does anybody know what it is?

The output stage and the related drivers are damage on one or both sides.
The components must be properly checked to determine the defective ones and
replace them.

This usually happens from overdriving the amp, shorting the speaker wires,
mismatched load, such as too many speaker units, or the wrong impedance
speakers, and or the something went defective in a speaker box, thus causing
the output stage in the amp to fail.

Probably either a blown channel or a power supply problem. Either way you'll
probably need a shop to repair it; Denon's don't exactly lend themselves to
do-it-yourself repairs.
