Dell P991 Trinitron Shadow Problem

Hi,

I have 3 year old Dell P991 Trinitron 18" monitor that recently started
having a problem with shadows around dark text on white backgrounds.. While
I'm typing this, there are gray bands that go through each line of text and
extend the either side of the monitor. If I highlight the text with the
mouse cursor, the band that I'm highlighting gradually gets darker. Does
anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? Is it worth fixing?

This is usually a sign that the CRT is going weak. To properly verify this,
the biases to the CRT have to be checked, and the drive signals to the CRT
have to verified with a scope using the proper test video.
