Hi.

I have an old Dell Latitude CPi A which has a problem that I can't
seem to fix.

The Dell powers up ok, spins up the drives, flashes in the 3 diodes
(caps lock etc. etc.) and then.... nothing.....

The display does not power up.

After a while ~ 20 seconds, the machine turns off (the power indicator
goes black)

I have tried to connect an external monitor, but with no luck.

I hope that someone in here has an advice on where to look for the
problem.

Being cautious about ESD damage, open the panels on the bottom cover,
and remove and re-seat the EEPROM chip. The chip is about 1cm square,
in a brown socket. This has fix has worked on a few for me!

That's not good . This indicates that either the memory has failed or
the CPU , or the chipset.

Maybe you could try removing the memory sticks one by one and see if
it starts to work each time .

Sorry, but it didn't lead to anything.

If I disassemble the Dell - is there any way to measure, if any of the
problems you mentioned, is the case?
