I am in the UK. Recently I moved my 19 inch Sony TV to another
room. When I switched it on in its new location the TV had a
colour fringe about two inches wide on the right hand side from the
top to almost the bottom.
I thought it would go away after switching the TV on & off a few
times but it is still there after trying this over a period of
about 30 minutes.
I am no electronics expert but I think I need to degauss the
screen.
All I have got is an old fashioned tape head demagnetiser (for 1/4
inch tape players). Can I use that to reduce the colour fringing?
(I would not go too close because presumably the tape head
demagnetiser has a very concentrated area of operation.
Would I use it when the TV is on or off?
