how can i convert 12V DC input to 24V DC output. it also must deliver up to
5A. i have searched but not found an IC. is there anybody who can help me?

Use this dc-dc converter I drew up for you. See it at
http://www.fncwired.com/V_StepUpEx/
Hope this helps,
Brian

thanks for your drawing.
i want to ask a question about it.
how can i upgrade it to that specs:

10<Vin<30 Vout=24V Imax=5A

because the input may be 12V or 24V and i don't want to do it
user-selected.

No problem. I've added the upgrade. Go back to
http://www.fncwired.com/V_StepUpEx/ to see it.

thanks for your drawing and
a few questions again...
the capacitor value that you said .1=0.1 uF?
are the resistor and the capacitor values critical?
can i round them up or down?
for example: what can i use for 1444ohm. 1,5k?

Yes, .1 is 0.1 uF
The only critical values are the resistors Rsc, R1 and R2.

thanks for your helps, Brian.
i want to ask a question again.
In another forum, someone said me to convert my DC voltage to AC voltage
and then convert it DC again. is it usable?
if i convert 12 VDC to 24 VAC, use a bridge diode to rectify it and
finally use a 24V regulator, is it efficient? what do you think?

In fact my real problem is current value. yes, there are a lot of ic but
they supply low currents and i don't know the way of increase current.

What is your input amd output voltage and current? (Rather than "double")

My input is 12 VDC car battery. i want to convert it to 24 VDC up to 5A
current. i have found a circuit in National's LM2588 datasheet. LM2588 is
a 5A flyback regulator but you can also use it as a boost regulator. the
boost regulator circuit converts 12v to 24v but the current is not
adequate, it is only 1A.
