Daytek Model DT-1701 M2/MPR
Dated June 1995. S/N 5065300342
Literally heard a loud pop and saw smoke while in use. Smoke quite
visible rising up from inside middle of case. Loud pop sound suggests
a capacitor failed. Opened up plastic cover and disassembled a fair
amount of anti radiation metal panels that form a cage enclosing the
PCBs. I haven't located any burnt parts by sight or by smell yet. The
PCBs and associated cabling is quite a sphagetti mess. The inside of
the monitor and the PCBs are practically new looking so its not as if
there was overheating due to lint build-up.
I am reluctant to disassemble everything at this point. Any
suggestions where I should look for a high failure component/capacitor
in this model? Otherwise its a garbage toss as I don't think any
service shop ever repairs CRT type monitors these days or for that
matter any monitors.
Thanks in advance.
