Hi,

I would like to use a "SD Memory Card" in one of my own designs, but can't
find the datasheets (operating conditions, electrical characteristics,
pinouts, timing diagrams, ...) Anyone who can help me ?

Thanks,
Mark Van Borm

SD Card requires $1,000/year to be a licensee. It uses a "secure" format.

MM Card is an open format.

I've seen these adapters in stores where you can plug a SD card into the
adapter and plug the adapter into a CompactFlash slot. In general,
these adapters are just a PC board with passive wiring, so it's likely
that the SD specs are similar to the CF specs, which are also similar to
an IDE interface. But then I can't remember ever seeing the CF card
specs.

Thanks for the URL's. However, it seems that the MMCA also requires you to
pay $500 in order to receive full-specs. Strange, I would have expected
them to publish everything, because of the "open" format, and to promote
their product to smaller companies or individuals.

Maybe other solutions ? I need at least 64Mbit non-volatile memory, which
can be controlled serially, and without having to use dozens of IC's...

I do have full specs of CompactFlash, but i don't think that the adapters
you mention are just passive wired. SD and CF are completely different
(addressed in another way, other control-signals, ...)

Of course it's always possible to produce an adapter like that, but it won't
simply work on any device because there's always the need for an extra
driver that uses the CF-slot in the "wrong" way.

Hi!

There are several 64M and even 128M flash ICs that are one chip, but I
think they are parallel access, so you may have to put a PIC or similar
on there for serial use...?

Yours, Mark.
