I was trying to bookmark the effort by Larkin, Popelish, Wescott, et
al
to boil down Poles and Zeros.

I couldn't get the highlighting to work right
--then I realized the problem: Dan Quayle Syndrome.

I'm an engineer. If I could spell, I might have had a more exhaulted
career, like in PR or something.

My point exactly. There are newsgroups for people who don't know much
about electronics but care a lot about spelling. Alt.english.usage, or
their arch-rival alt.usage.english.

How about the jetliner from Poland that crashed in Washington State in
the early '80s? The pilot announced that there was a fine view of Mt.
St. Helens off the starboard wing, so the passengers went over to look.

Then there were too many Poles in the right half of the plane...
