Can anyone recommend one? The Chinese ones are cheap, but I don't know
which may be good.

The piece would be about 1" x 0.4" with a few features. We could buy a
bunch.

Takachi has good stuff, both extrusions (with external screw threads
available on some of their models) and other kinds of boxes and chassis.

1" x 0.4" seems awfully small, though -- not sure I understand exactly
what you're looking for?

General public service announcement: beware of Takachi's integrated heat
sinks. I think they farm those out to Hattori Hanzo. I almost needed
stitches after picking one up by the wrong edge.

Two pieces of the roughly C-shaped extrusion would be the sides of a
custom box, to replace the horrible Hammond enclosures that everyone
uses. We need someone to tool up and make an extrusion to our design.

The top and bottom and ends would be flat plates that screw into the
extrusions and are easily removed. The next steps would be to anodize
all the metal, and laser or inkjet print all the artwork.

Heat sink fins on small boxes are essentially cosmetic. Our real
thermal concern is getting the heat from the parts on the board, to
the outside of the case. Most boxes do this badly.

The cork popped merrily, and Lord Peter rose to his feet.

"Bunter", he said, "I give you a toast. The triumph of Instinct over Reason"

Like extruded aluminum enclosures? I've bought from here before:

<http://www.par-metal.com/index.php>

US based in NJ but pretty good prices; my quote for a 2 rack unit, 5"
deep black powder coat steel enclosure with anodized aluminum front
panel, side vents and mounting handles with IEC knockout on the back in
quantities of 10+ was $42 IRRC.

The sample was very clean, everything fit well, coatings were perfect
and no rough edges or burrs anywhere.

Their table top cases look interesting, but they don't know how to include a table in a PDF other than as a picture so you can't copy part numbers. Sad.

Look up https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kawneer; Kawneer does all of
the extrusions for buildings and window frames.
See if they will do custom for your volume.

I recommended Magnode, in Trenton, Ohio the last time you asked about custom extrusions.
