It's a GE Model 32GT720YX6 that the customer says lost sound while
they were watching it. It was in the shop two months ago for the same
problem and the only thing done at that time was resoldering of the
board (lots of flaky connections) and unmuting the sound via the menu. I
didn't think that was the problem at the time and I told them so. The
resoldering was done for the sake of overall reliability.
This time around, I noticed the remote is not working properly
(customer never mentioned that) but all the front panel buttons work
fine. Via a universal RCA remote, all I can do is turn the set on. After
that, I can't turn it off, adjust the volume, change channels, menu
doesn't work, etc. Pressing the menu button on the set always brings up
the audio setup, and the first thing on that list highlighted is mute.
I'm wondering if there is any correlation with that and the intermittant
mute problem.
Does this all sound familar to Thomson techs? I would be grateful
for some pointers. Thanks in advance.
