Picture is crooked. On a letter-box dvd, teh top half is 1/4 higher on
the right than left, and on the bottom half, the picture is almost 1/2
inch higher on the right. TV has never been dropped etc.

Any ideas on how to fix?

The deflection yoke may require to be rotated. Doing this may force the
requirement of having to do the complete convergence and purity setup.
This depends on whether or not these adjustments go out from the
procedure. There are no service menu set-ups for the convergence,
purity, and picture rotation.

All the purity and convergence adjustments in this set are mainly done
manually using the magnets on the CRT neck behind the yoke, and the slip
magnets that run from the lower wall of the tube (bell) down to under
the deflection yoke.

However, it would be wise to check to see that all the scan circuits are
working up to specs. If you do not have the necessary tools, and
training to do this type of work, I suggest you call in a service person
who can handle this for you.

A full yoke adjustment would need to be performed, assuming that you do not
have the set facing the worst direction for the tilt generated from the
earth's magnetic field.

The 1/4" across tilt at the top is well within specifications for what the
earth's magnetic field can do, the 1/2" is just at the limit for a 27" size
tv set. If when you face the tv set directly east or west (depends on where
you live exactly) the tilt should be minimal in the exact center of the
screen.
