Creation of .trn directly in Modelsim.

I am working on Modelsim, I want to generate the trn files diectly instead
of creating the vcd files.Conversion from vcd to trn takes a long time in
signalscan ,I was able to generate trn directly in ncsim, but don't know
the way out with Modelsim.If anyone knows the procedure for this,do help
me out

It is the same process - you will have to link the C applications for
$recordvars etc. with the simulator. This (slightly dated) material may
