As a way of identifying potential bridge locations in a design, I use
Cadence Encounter / extractRC to get an SPEF file which I then parse
to get bridge net pairs, essentially those that were identified as
having a coupling capacitance. Now I wonder if this approach is valid,
and I have a specific question.
If there are two nets of the same metal layer running in parallel in
close proximity, they will have a coupling capacitance and it will
show in the SPEF file, but what if there is another net running
between the two on the same metal layer? Will the two separated nets
then show up in the SPEF file?
The reason for my question is that if there is a net that separates
the two, the likelihood of a bridge between them is dramatically
reduced (as I work under a single fault assumption).
