Connecting (powering) sat LNB to scanning receiver

Does anyone have any ideas as to how to safely power a satellite dish
LNB downconverter so I can plug it into a scanning radio receiver
without toasting either ?

I've an old foxtel dish and LNB that i'd like to experiment with rather
than just toss into the bin.

I've tried googling but all i seem to get is noise.

Has anyone seen anything on the 'net or done anything similar ?

Thanks,

Sean

Had a peek at what the SETI people do ? Radio Astronomy or Amateur radio
might have some clues to point you in the right direction

You can get filters/splitters (similar to the TV splitters that you see
in DSE - or maybe even the same) that will have a power through
connection so that the LNB can be powered by a receiver, and the other
outputs have the power filtered out.

You will need to power the LNB from a receiver card, or connect a power
supply to provide the right power for the horizontal or vertical
polarization.

Try searching again. I'm sure you could find something on this.

Dale.
