I threw it into a tin can then invert it. It still rang when I dialed
its number.

Must I use aluminium foil? Why does Al make a difference?

Sure I did, in SER. Put it in a microwave oven, but (obviously) don't turn
on the oven.

That's a brilliant solution. At least it had better be, or else things
will be cooking in the kitchen besides whatever is in the oven.

Sorry for missing the last part and for my first impression about an
oven (always used to cook things).

OH well, I don't use microwave oven. It's too dangerous.

A good way to deny others from asking about secrets in electronics, I
suppose. :)

Bucket of salt water works for me.

Bucket of salt water works for me.
Are you trying to destroy the phone, rather than just shielding it from RF?

Funny story. We found out that the grounds in our office are miswired
due to testing the device.

Someone built a box, lined with copper mesh and had a three prong plug
on a cord coming out of it. When properly grounded it definitely kills
RF for the device inside the box. But in our office no such luck.
Probably because of the UPS on the back side of the outlets.
