I'm looking for a way to mechanically interface a compact flash card
to a homemade wire-wrapped CPU card. Where in Oz can I buy one of
those 50-pin connector (probably with an ejector handle)? Is there any
other way? Is memory stick etc. any easier?

Farnell have the connectors.

CF card is complex, but *much* simpler than memory sticks, which are all
USB, and require a USB host ( read PC with Windows ) to operate.

Thanks. After about 10 minutes and getting nowhere on Farnell web site
I switched over to RS and found one (M120-50PD-SF, AUS$ 7.79)

I dont think memory stick has any interface system other than as "storage"
anyway ..

Compact Flash and SD are the only formats I know of that have an "IO" mode
as well as storeage .. and even SDIO is very under-implemented ..

Jaycar have CF card sockets for about five bucks. They are SMT and don't have
eject latches or the like but are great for proto work.

i m no electronics expert nor a computer genius .. but USB is also widely
supported on Linux ...
