Comments on Monitors for CAD

Hello,

I would be grateful if you could give me some info from experience on
monitors made for giving very clear images and text.

First are LCD screens used for work like that?
If yes which particular model?

Then, since a high resolution is needed for displaying accurate info,
this would mean the readable text would be quite small.
Is there any solution to have high screen resolution and large text
(without making windows boxes overlapping on text eg adjusting the
dpi).

Many thanks

George

For clarity and flexibility I believe tubes still rule.

This can be solved for LCDs. Google for a program called Liquidview...

We use the Samsung SyncMaster 243T and I'm quite satisfied with it.

You didn't specify which tool you're using. Cadence doesn't do anything
mechanical, where concerns about high resolution and color correctness
would be most critical. The closest we get is our PCB tools.

I personally run the IC tools in two display environments: my IBM R51
laptop, which has a 1400x1050 screen, and an SGI 1600SW flat panel,
which has a 1600x1024 screen. Both are adequate for what I do.

If your company can justify the cost, you could always get something
from Panoram Technologies. (Man, I'd love one of these.)
