Changing of voicemail password..

...NOT.

Using Google to search for Samsung Galaxy J2 change voicemail
password, got this "interactive tutorial" that cannot work:

1. From home screen, tap phone <--OK
2. Tap the visual voicemail icon <--not only is there no such icon,
the shown dialpad does not exist (see record of incoming calls). Use of
that funny multi-dot "menu" icon gets the dialpad and that visual
voicemail icon still does not exist. There is an icon on the left, but
it looks like a message balloon and gives a screen titled "Select
Recipients". There is no screen titled "visual voicemail" anywhere.
3. Tap more <-- cannot exist, as no screen titled "visual voicemail".
4. Tap Settings <-- no go schmo
5. Tap change password <-- no go schmo
6. Enter desired new password <-- no go schmo
7. re-enter desired new password then tap OK <-- no go schmo

So who fakes up this useless crap?

And how, in reality, can one change the voicemail password?
Thanks.

My guess would be that this is due the same phone potentially having
different VM systems. First there are two general types, the old conventional
dumb ones and the newer visual VM. Do you know which you have? The
visual type shows you a list of messages, showing who the callers are,
the times, etc. You can then pick any one of them in any order to listen
to it. The old type you just listen to them in sequence. The old type,
AFAIK, is always hosted at your carrier. The visual type can be hosted
there or by some other totally different company. And then each carrier
or company can have their own app for dealing with it. So, the same
phone could use different apps, depending on the carrier and if you've
chosen some other VM app other than the one it came from.

Did you try searching for VM specific to your carrier? If you don't have
visual VM and want it, Youmail provides it for free. The only reqt is
that your carrier has to support conditional call forwarding. All the
majors do, at least on traditional, contract plans. Some do not if
it's prepaid. If they support conditional call forwarding, then you
can download the Youmail app from the playstore. It works by sending
codes to your carrier that tell it to forward calls that you don't
answer to Youmail. Youmail then records them and sends the call info
to the app via the data link. It even offers speech to text, so you
can read the call instead of listening to it. If your carrier offers
visual VM, which they likely do, they must have an app too. You could
look in the play store searching for Verizon or whatever, see what apps
pop up.

Interesting.
How can i determine this visual VM?
My phone is via Tracphone, they never say what carrier (or plural)
they use - but i think Verizon.

Thanks!!

A quick Google shows that Tracphone supports VVM. You need a data plan, it will use some data. Go to the Google play store on your phone and search for the you mail ap, install it. If you don't want VVM, just Google for changing pwd on Tracphone.
I did google that, and got a sequence that could not possibly work
(documented previously).

The only answer i found, was to call Tracphone; they set my voicemail
password.

Call Tracfone. They are your carrier for this purpose.

I don't know. All you told us was you found some info on the Internet that seems to be wrong. So far, there's no surprise. Lots of wrong info on the Internet. What web site?

Isn't your voicemail set by your provider? Try contacting them for details.
