CD not able to spin

Hi,
I am using AIWA ZKR900 VCD Mini HiFi with 5 CD changer.
The player is unable to detect CD but I can hear the optical movement,
showing that it is searching for data. The CD seem to trying to spin
but it could not take-off. I try to give it a "jump start" by push the
CD to spin, then it will spin and the player able to play the CD. So
each time now when I want to play a CD, I have to "jump-start" it.
What is the actual problem here? Since, it is able to read the CD
(provided if the CD can spin), it shows that nothing worng with the
optical block. So where can I check for faulty part?

Thanks for any help.

Try some oil down the shaft of the motor. This can most likely be that
the motor must be replaced, or there is a fault in the servo drive to
the motor.

Definitely worth a try cleaning the lens, but if it takes off and spins
pretty reliably with a little "help" this often indicates a shorted spindle
motor - that is, shorted on 1/2 it's revolution. Often the short can be
cleared if you understand about small motor construction, and can aim some
cleaner/lubricant into the little slits underneath, aimed at the brushes,
and follow with some compressed air to blow out the debris etc. Repeat a
couple times and the short will usually disappear. It's helpful to be able
to test for the short before and after so you know if the procedure worked.

He can hand start it so almost certainly the motor. May be partially shorted
needing cleaning or replacement.

See the CD repair guide, section on motors.
