I have the problem that I need to extract coupling capacitances from a
layout
of the investigated circuit. Cadence Encounter (extractRC) allows me
to get
the coupling capacitances between signal nets, and also the
capacitance to
ground, but I also need the capacitance between a given net and the
power
supply rail. I guess this is not included in the extraction (or the
report
file on the SPEF format) because this information is not needed for
cross talk
estimation (as the power supply rail is assumed to be at a steady
voltage
value) and the information is not needed for delay calculation either
because
it can be lumped with the capacitance to ground. Anyway, do you know
any other
way of getting the capacitance between a net and the power supply
rail?
I have the layout from Encounter place&route. If I need to get this
layout into another extraction tool, please be explicit of what files
(or commands) that I need from the Encounter environment and what the
files might be called in the other tool.
