Has anyone seen a printed/PDF copy of the service manual for the OCE
scanner/printers? Extensive online hunting turns up nothing other than
ads for buying said scanner/printer...(or I missed it!)
My machine has darker fainter bands where it prints and I suspect the
corona wires may be part of the problem, but how to clean them? I have
found how to extract the corona wire assembly and tried a basic clean
using a cotton swab with 99% alcohol but that didn\'t remove some sort of
discolouration on the wires.
Then I tried using a fibreglass brush supporting the corona wires with a
stiff piece of paper and that made the printed image slightly darker -
but I don\'t know if corona wires are coated with anything, or are just
polished spring steel (music) wire.
It looks like Canon/OCE is a true believer in keeping service
information forbidden to regular folks who would want to maintain
equipment that they personally own!
Where can one file a Right To Repair class action against this sort of
crap? I recall when manufacturers were required BY LAW to provide
schematics and service manuals for equipment they produced. Industrial
secrets is hardly an argument as any manufacturer worth its salt is
working on the next generation of products rather than the ones
currently in or out of production.
Thanks for reading!
