Canon inkjet repair question

If there is a more appropriate NG for this question please give me the
directions.

I have a Canon BJC 6000 inkjet printer and I need to know if there's
any way to test the printhead assembly to see if it's still
functional?
It uses the BC-31e cartridge with integrated printheads and the
separate ink tanks that click into the printhead assembly.

Hiya!

Selftests are usually someting like hold down the paper feed button or
the power button while plugging the printer in.

No. I mean tests on the cartridge circuits themselves.
Alot of cartridges that have the printhead integreated as well as
internal heaters are designed to self-destruct when the ink level runs
out.
Usually a fuse or fusible diode or some such device to render the
cartridge unreusable.
I've read the procedure involved in refusing a HP cartridge, just
never have on the Canon's.
Once the fused are fixed and the cartridge is refilled it'll work
about good as new.(untill the actual printhead degrades.)
Just hoping to find someone who knows how to service the Canon
cartridges.
 
Try some of the computer printer newsgroups. I've received a lot of help
over there.
