Canon BJC-2000 printer modification

I want to modify this Canon BJC-2000 printer so it doesn't do any
automatic cleaning cycles.
I found its doing this whenever I plug it in or open the door long
enough for the head to reach the center position.

I'm thinking of putting in a switch to disconnect one or more of the
conductors to the print head when I know the printer is going to do an
automatic cleaning . Is this feasible? Are there schematics or other
info available for this printer?

This is controled by the internal firmware in the controler on the
main circuit board. The lid and etc only have sensing switches to know
if things are opened or closed.

As for schematics, Canon will never release anything to non authorsed
service centers. Infact, they rarely even do component level service
on these. They are changing the complete boards when there are
failures.

Their service department will work mainly with interconnect diagrams,
not detailed schematics. For many of their models, the service
departments are not issued full schematic diagrams at the board level.
They will only change specific known to fail type parts on a circuit
board only when absolutely feasable.

As for Canon products, I found their cameras and photographic
equipment in general to be absolutely tops! But, for their printers,
I have had very poor results and service. I owned a number of fairly
expensive printers from them, and had nothing but continous problems.

As for their camera equipment, I would be one of the first to jump on
a Canon camera, but last to purchase a printer.

I don't know if cleaning cycles are necessary or
not, but I'm sure the automatic cleaning cycles
are not. I won't know if I can completely do
without cleaning cycles until I make the
modification. I've found that I can unplug the
nozzles by printing a page with very fine print. If
that doesn't work, I use a folded napkin soaked
with denatured alcohol to leech out the ink
deposits. Both of these methods have worked
when the automatic cleaning did not. I suspect
that frequent automatic head cleanings will
reduce the head life due to higher currents
being used. The owner's manual gives no
indication that automatic cleanings are done, so
I was doing additional unnecessary cleaning
cycles in the past.
