#Canada has become a “safe haven for terrorists and extremists,” according to India\'s spokesperson for its Ministry of External Affairs.

During a 45-minute long talk fielding questions about Canada\'s accusations that New Delhi was behind the assassination of a Canadian #Sikh leader, the spokesperson called out Canada as many as seven times, adding it was a hotbed of \"anti-India activities\".

Earlier in the week Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said there was \"credible\" evidence that the Indian state was behind the June murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Sikh leader and Canadian citizen.

#Canada expelled a top #Indian intelligence diplomat and #India countered by dismissing a Canadian diplomat.

Since then, the tensions have heightened to include India issuing a travel advisory to Canada and both sides halting talks on a massive trade deal.

There are lots of Sikhs outside India, and none of them think much of the Indian persecution of Sikhs in India. That doesn\'t make them terrorists and extremists, no matter how much the current Indian government likes to call them that. When a Sikh nationalist gets assassinated in Canada, one has to suspect that the Indian government is dabbling in terrorism, though it might just have been a couple of American gun-nuts going postal while in Canada..
