Can I use an increment >1 when vectoring components in Compo

I'd like to instantiate a cell as follows:

cell<0:7:2>

Composer doesn't seem to allow this for no reason that I can fathom.
Am I missing something? Is this just a shortcoming of Composer?
There's really no reason that I shouldn't be able to use all of the
numbering techniques here that I have availalbe for nets. (Please
pardon my rants).

Thanks.

I think this is just a shortcoming. Probably nobody ever thought you'd want to
do it... contact customer support and ask for an enhancement..

There are a lot of things in the net naming syntax which would make no sense
anyway; for example, being able to repeat bits would be nonsensical with
instances.

Andrew.

Note that the entire " bus ripping code " inside cadence has never been well
documented.

(If anyone understands it, please post!)

This code often works for bizarre expansions, but I would test out the
results of anything esoteric.

I disagree - I actually think this is well documented! Perhaps you're looking in
the wrong place?

Try looking at <instdir>/doc/compuser/compuser.pdf in Chapter 2 "Understanding
Connectivity and Naming Conventions" (this document is the Virtuoso Schematic
Editor User Guide).

Regards,

Andrew.
