Camcorder Playback Problem

I have a Sharp DV Camcorder model VL-NZ50 with a playback problem.
It seems to record just fine but on playback the LCD screen is blue
without any sound. Funny thing is that if I try to Fast Forward
(while playing) several times it will eventually play and once it
starts to play everything is just fine for the rest of the tape. But
it is a bit frustrating to fiddle (repeating rewind and FFWD) just to
get the camcorder going every time I try to play a recorded tape. The
camcorder is obviously not in normal operating condition, and I
suspect it is due to either head clog or tape alignment. Anyone had
the same problem ? How was it fixed, if any ? I would like to hear
some advice/comment before I go out to buy a head cleaning tape.
Thanks in advance for any reply.

Don't use a cleaning tape on this camcorder, it will do more harm than good.
Take it to a Tech for an estimate.
