Blaupunkt denver repair

I have a Blaupunkt Denver car CD player that has been skipping, and I
thought it was the CD drive causing the problem, but it did the same
thing while playing the radio the other day. I sucessfully
disassembled the unit and cleaned the lens with alcohol, and
reassembled the unit, however it still skips as before. It seems to do
it more on the CD than on the radio, however it does it on the radio
as well. Also seems to skip more at higher volume levels. If i turn it
down when it starts this skipping, the skipping usually goes away.
Could it be a bad solder trace, or some componet I could re solder and
replace?

Thanks

Also, When I cleaned the lens it wiggled around when I touched it with the q-tip.
Almost like a fish eyeball. Does this sound normal?

Thanks in advance.

If it does it(skips) with the radio alone, leave the cd player out of
the picture and concentrate on the radio!

Well thanks, it does it when I am playing the CD or the radio, so it
isnt only the CD skipping. It sort of makes a skipping-like sound
sometimes on the radio and usually at higher volume levels. If i turn
it down the skipping usually goes away.
Any Idea what the problem could be? I an thinking maybe a short in the
power line, or a grounding problem, but all connections seem good and
are soldered into the truck. 1985 toyota landcruiser.

Could this possibly be a problem with the internal amplifier, since it
is volume level dependent?

Thanks

Check your speakers for low dc resistance, anything less than 3.6 ohm DCR is
too low. Also check that any speaker leads are not shorted to ground. If all
is OK there then your output IC is defective.
