Bindkey for Library Manager - possible?

Hi,

We can assign bindkeys for Composer, VLE, CIW etc tools/windows.

Can we do the same for Library Manager? Like create library (Ctrl-L),
Refresh (Ctrl-R) etc.

Thanks, Manju

No, this isn't possible. You can use the menu accelerators (Alt together with the underlined
letter, and then the next underlined letter and so on). When you customize the library
manager yourself to add your own menus, you can define the accelerator letter, but there
is no way of customizing shortcuts (I don't think this has changed recently).

Regards,

Andrew.

Manju,
We cannot set a bindkey for the Library Browser since it is a
DAG(Directed Acyclic Graph) window. The DAG windows don't use the
bindkey.

Checkout the following online documentation for more information.
User Interface SKILL Functions Reference Manual,
Appendix B: Graph Browser.

Thanks,
Partha

Huh? The Library Browser was a DAG window in 4.3.4 (9502) which was released 9
years ago - but since 4.4 (released mid 1996, i.e. 8 years ago), the library manager (and
library select (or browser)) have been implemented in Motif.

You still can't create bindkeys for them, but it's nothing to do with them being
DAG browsers...

You must be using a VERY old version of DFII software. The Library Browser
became a separate Motif-based executable starting in 4.4.

The last release to use a DAG-based Library Browser was 4.3.4.

-Pete Zakel
(phz@seeheader.nospam)

"Matter cannot be created or destroyed, nor can it be returned without a
receipt."

...and in version 5.0 the library manager started using shared motif objects instead of static.

We can extrapolate:
version 5.3 will see that Xresources are all documented
version 5.6 those Xresources are compatible with editres , some parts of the linux desktop theme are inherited.
version 7.0 consolidation: all apps are based using motif rather than AWT, Tk, ...
version 12.1 the forms are dynamic and the analog artist window can now resize.
version 19.0 first moves towards replacing motif by wxWindows

By which time I should be retired ( last european regulations: I ll be 78), oblivious of UI problems with design tools, watching a good movie.
And my TV set will be an immersive virtual world with agent-based user interface a-la Gates.
