Just wanted to give you an update on that Vert IC Prob I had. Well, I
found out the Cap and the diode was good, so I replace the chip and the
Resistor and crossed my fingers..:) LOL Pluged the board back in, and
turned it on. Back to normal! TV is working great. My daughter is so
happy. SHe has her TV/Babysitter back..:) So now we are back up to two TV.
Once again for the grat advice, Wizard!

Rick,

Great job!

That cap 47uF or 100uF near vertical IC you checked as "good"? I
don't think so, checks good on some meters ones that has capacitance
check feature. In truth vital part that most electronics needs is ESR
(equaivent series resistance), healthy caps has low ESR, the dried up
caps (phyically look good most of time) has too high ESR and affects
the various circuits in many ways depending on what it is used in.
For example, vertical IC with high ESR capacitor fails again after
awhile. Usually I hear from customers who saw it and did not bring it
in asap had top edge dropped or showing bit of lines then had to when
tv failed.

Change that capacitor, okay?

There is a tool that specializes on only checks ESR values. Range
from inexpensive, build youself kit designed by Bob Parker (I own two
kits, worth it!) all the way to assembled version (same one, for 100)
or another one called Capacitor Wizard, bit pricy.

Cheers,

Wizard

Ok. I will get that changed out. Just in Case. Heck one cap shouldn't
cost all that much. Maybe someone could e-mail me one..:) LOL

Thanks again,
Rick

That cap is inexpensive, 1 to 2 dollars usually but bit more if you
are buying from a shop or like where you got the LA7838 from. It is
cheaper and easier to get parts at same time, remember there is a
minimum order cost at many electronics suppliers. Try the local tv
shop first for cap.

Actualy, I got the chip from another Sanyo board. From a 27" TV that went
out on me (the tube). But I am still going to get that Cap changed out. I
will go to my local TV shop, or go to "Radio sCrap", and get one if I must.
But I still give you thanks for helping me out with this Prob. I will
always trust your Info!
