battery meter

how can i make a battery meter of a bettery which is to be charged by
solar pannel to show reading on LEDs at alltimes, whether the load is
attached or not, or the battery is being charged
all the batery meter circuits i found only show the battery ratings
without the load being attached

A couple of questions:

* By "battery meter", are you referring to a voltmeter, a current
meter, or a meter which determines % charge/discharge?

* What kind of battery do you have? How are you charging it?

* By "show reading on LEDs at alltimes", are you referring to a string
of individual LEDs or a numeric LED display?

Cheers

Try one of these:

hi
well i have decided to make a volt meter, please comment whether its a
good choice or not, and the LEDs are string.. not numeric.
one other option that i have concidered is that to get a little
current from the battery via a big resistance . the current will then
be givven into A2D converter and the output can be obtained in numeric
display. but is this approach OK? would the current become weak with
the battery cosumption, keeping in mind that the current is initially
very less

and yes, the battery is being charged primarily by a solar pannel and
if the battery is not charged properly, its is then charged from the
main lines, and this battery meter that im refering to is going to
help me switch between both the supplies

I have a circuit that I have built many times for car/boat use.
Ignition on [engine running] = charge voltage,
ignition off = battery voltage.
Power comes from battery. Depending on LED brightness
power consumption can be very low. The one I have in car now,
uses 10ma. and measures 10-15 volts. And is extremely accurate, I
might add!

As I understand your question, solar power will be applied to battery
at all times. If that's the case, the meter would always read charge
voltage except at night when output is reduced, or if the load
requires high amperage.

Cost should be less than $10.00 even with all new parts.
[And two evenings]

I'm assuming this is for 12v battery, but circuit would work with 6v
battery too.

I'll answer ? here, or give me a snail mail address and I'll send
schematic and instructions.
