Audiovox AVP6750 VCR Dew Light?

I have a dew light that is on, the tape will insert and eject but won't play.
Doing a search on the group I found the dew sensor but someone has already
shorted it. It is solder to the board and on back they've bridged it like
mention on some post. I verified this with an ohm meter!

It has been playing for a couple of years before the light came on. Any idea
whatelse can be done for this unit. I'm stuck...

The dew sensor connector plug on the pcb may be oxidized or filmed up.
Try cleaning it. However, perhaps the problem isn't the dew sensor
circuit but rather the mode switch which is similarly contaminated and
needs cleaning or replacement.
