Audiophiles - fine flexible screened cable

Can anyone please point me in the direction of a source of fine single core
screened cable. We are repairing / building some existing instrumentation
and are having trouble sourcing some more cable. Around the workshop it is
referred to as phonogram cable, this may or may not be correct. The rapidly
depleting stock we have could be 20+ years old.


The cable we want needs to be:

* Around 1mm OD, the smaller the better.
* Multistranded centre conductor (one conductor only).
* Shielded - a braided shield is preferred to a 'wrapped' shield.
* Very flexible.


I imagine it may have been used in the past in record player tone arms. We
strip the outer sheath from a short length and used it to connect between
some sensors and a pcb. The sensors need to move a very small amount and any
mechanical load needs to be minimised. RS, Farnell, WES etc don't have
anything suitable.

The best I can find is 2 core with o/a diameter of 1.03mm (bet it
won't be cheap)

Just noticed that on P.2 they have coaxial cable (single core,
screened). STC50A-36T might be suitable with D = 0.8 mm
