I want to attach my pc to my stereo to allow me to;
a.. stream internet radio and listen to it through my stereo
b.. record my vinyl and cassettes into my pc to create cds
Does the Xitel Inport allow me to do both these things ?

If not what do you suggest I consider purchasing ?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks

Use audio isolation transformers between your Inputs and Outputs and
you will reduce a potential for headache!!

-Beau Schwabe

just run an rca from the pc to the stereo aux, and run an rca from the audio
out of the stereo to the computer in. can do it for 6$ at the dollar store.

Or rather 2 RCA cables from and 2 RCA cables to, if you want stereo.

Edward,

Audio output is available at the audio output jack that you reference below
as "headphones in." You should be able to find a 1/8" subminiature jack
(what I believe is on the end of the headphones cable) to a stereo (dual)
RCA connectors at Radio Shack.

Thanks Al, but my Toshiba satellite doesn't seem to have an audio out
connection. The only sockets it has is a mic in, headphones in and video
(yellow) out ?

Ahem. Headphones IN?

That's the audio OUT.

Think about it carefully ...

(yellow) out ?
Line In, most likely. If not, you're rather out of luck in what you
want.

But take heart - you can pick up machines that can do the raw audio
work for under 500USD easily nowadays. (Well under if you shop around ..
I've seen complete systems for about 150USD used, with monitor and a
licensed copy of Win98SE.)

The mic in may actually be a line in. A mic symbol is often used to
label the line in. Most laptops have a built in mic, so there's no need
for a mic in jack.

If there really is no line input, Wal-Mart has a USB sound device for
under $50 that looks reasonable. It has line in and out, headphone with
volume control and toslink in and out.
