Hi,

Are There Any FPGA Families With Free Design Software?
I have an older copy of Xilinx ISE that I think was free but the
current version lists for $2500. Lattice doesn't list a price on
its site.

I am a hobbyist (former engineer) so money is an object.

Xilinx WebPack is free and supports a limited range of devices, including
the low-cost Spartan-II and -3. The free version of Altera Quartus supports
lots of their parts, including the low-cost Cyclone.
