Are 'For Auction' notices welcome in this group?

I am going to auction off some old equipment of mine, including an ungar
4024 desoldering station. I imagine this sort of item would be of interest
to the readers of this group, would it be appropriate to post a link to the
ebay page with FA: in the header?

Thanks,
jacobe

This is an electronic repair group, not a marketplace group. There are
marketplace groups available for just that reason.

There is no electronics themed marketplace NG that I know of, unless you
count sci.electronics.equipment and sci.electronics.components.

I don't see a problem with an occasional FA post, as long as it's done in
moderation, is relevant to the group, and FA is clearly stated in the header.
Also, I think it would be preferable to list multiple items within a single
post.

Many news servers do not carry the marketplace group at all.
The option would be to set up a user account at Google groups in order to
post there.

Posting Ebay auction advertisements may be against Ebay rules as an Ebay
user.

Now if someone were going to list stuff you were giving away in one single
post, or a business that does repair going out of business (with location),
that might be acceptable as a single posting.
