The electricians would have you believe it, to preserve their cushy little monopoly in Oz.
The facts speak otherwise.....

As your posting into aus.electronics I assume you're hoping to learn a
trick or two.

Here;s something for you, you little cmos prodder

Remember this, your life may be lost if you ignore it

High Voltage can burn you badly but it takes only a feww mA to stop
your heart.

I don't need your permission to post.

Nah, I am setting the record straight for ignorant fools who think DIY wiring is
automatically unsafe. If you really are a Kiwi you should know this already.

You got that badly WRONG.
I have designed HVAC switchboards and high-current busbar systems (over 55 kA).
Who is the prodder now, eh ?

Remember this, your life may be lost if you ignore it
I have been working with electricity for over 30 years, probably when you were in
nappies.

High Voltage can burn you badly but it takes only a feww mA to stop
your heart.
More like 40mA according to Pethebridge and Williams.

The facts are quite clear - the countries which allow DIY wiring have a
better safety record than Australia - so the 'safety' argument put forward
by the Oz electricians is bullshit designed to protect their union monopoly.

Silicon Chip has published a lot of info on the subject - check out the
letter 'More on New Zealand's electrical regulations' in the following link...

** Oh my god - that article was written by ** Ross Tester ** ?????

Same mad man who wrote the entirely fallacious Ni-Cd battery ads for DSE
that were published in EA magazine some years back.

Jim Rowe gave me almost an entire Forum column to tear his brainless
bullshit apart - piece by piece.

Very embarrassing for DSE at the time.

They never advertised the alleged " benefits " of using Ni-Cads again.

An ad hominem attack on Ross Tester does nothing to negate the Silicon
Chip campaign against the union-dominated electricians and their bullshit.

Read the Publishers Letters - written by Leo Simpson.
Better still - do some basic research and you'll discover that Australia has a
far higher rate of electrical fatalaties than NZ or any other country that
permits DIY wiring.

** All facts, no exaggerations.

Read the Publishers Letters - written by Leo Simpson.

** ROTFLMAO !!

Leo is a hoot, a real hoot.

When he designed a dangerous project ( the Musicolour 4 IIRC ) he refused
to admit any error.

When myself and 2 others in the industry ( ie Branko Justic and Doug Ford )
pointed the safety errors out to the various kit suppliers in a carefully
written letter, he threatened to sue us or defamation.

Wot a hoot !!!

Well toaster boy, I see you have utterly failed to refute my arguments....... as usual

I remember that kit and an earlier version circa 1979-80 that was 3
channel IIRC with auto reverse and auto invert features.

IIRC they had one of these in the local skate centre and another in a
video hire shop that had just opened at the time.

How did your brain-damaged brain come up with WOG, toaster boy ?
I am an Aussie, born in NSW.
You should point your filthy brain in other directions, although you have ZERO
respect in this newsgroup, as everyone would testify.
