I keep getting cheap stuff from aliexpress because I think I might want
it then lose alL or any paperwork (probably in chinese anyway)This thing
has no markings anywhere even on PCB (as well the terminal block is
loose as solder has no connection with the pins, shows the quality.
It is maybe speed control or temp control.

It looks close to this:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/201586974632/

I think you'd have been lucky to get paperwork in the first
place based on my experience.

Ta looks very like it but I think it was less than $5.00
Have blown up and printed terminal info. might take a punt on it.

Have just found this similar item bought at the same time, it also has
no paperwork but I did put copy of ebay page which says it is a high
power 4000 w SCR speed controller. It has only two terminals,I suppose
you just put it in the active line ?

As Kev said - I have one similar sitting here on a shelf, bought it after
seeing Big Clive pull one to bits. I even posted here (I think...) about
perhaps using it as a speed control on an oscillating aquarium air pump.

I think this may be the one I bought;
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4000W-220V-AC-SCR-Motor-Speed-Controller-Module-Voltage-Regulator-Dimmer/391729608300
and it looks identical to the OP's.

Looks like it. You'll probably have to work out which terminal
the load is meant to be connected to though.

The one I linked to in my other post is identical to yours and only cost
$3.25.

One of them is 1st stop fuse maybe a hint.

BTW I meant to say that it's good to know that I'm not the only person with
'modules' sitting around who has trouble remembering what they all do. I've
taken to writing specs on a piece of paper and putting it in a bag with the
module in question but still have quite a few from before I started doing
that. ;-)

I also try to gather together whatever info I can at the time I buy
things. In doing that I often find the specs are a bit dodgy.

Case in point, I got a couple of buck converters. At the time many
sellers had the same ones, and claimed that the max current was 12A
(depending on which way the wind is blowing, literally). I discovered
that the spec for the chip used says 8A max.

I and others came to the conclusion that there had at one time been a
12A version of the IC, but that version was obsolete/unobtainium
(perhaps the maker had production problems due to being too
optimistic??).

The exact same converters are still available now - some sellers do
say 8A max, but many still claim 12A.
