Do you know how to enter the registration code? I received it in the email,
but when I click on the drop down menu and select it, it doesn't give me a
box or anything.

Easy, download the source code, look through it, if you see anything you
don't like bin it.

.... Well I defragged my TV and went all the way back to basic cable!

I download lots of stuff, it's just anything with a .exe that I am cautious about.

If you're scared of executables, then scan it with your antivirus software
immediately after downloading (you are using antivirus software, aren't
you?). Then, install it and scan again. If it passes both scans, you
should be OK. Make sure your AV signatures are up to date.
