Hello to everybody,
I would like to announce here FidoCadJ, a small program which has
been developed to draw very easily electronic schematics as well as
printed circuit boards. This program targets in particular to
hobbyists who want to use the equivalent of a very immediate yet
complete drawing board.
A particularity of FidoCadJ is that the drawing is represented as a
very compact text code which can be immediately copy/pasted in a
Usenet post, instead of ASCII drawings.
FidoCadJ is the multi platform Java version of FidoCad for Windows, a
program which has become a well accepted standard in the electronics
Italian community (for example in it.hobby.elettronica, but also in
other groups). FidoCadJ has been successfully tested on Windows, many
Linux distributions and MacOSX. Thanks to the help of many users,
FidoCadJ (as well as the user manual) is available in Italian, French
and now also in English.
Here is the link of the SourceForge project (FidoCadJ is an open
source GPL project):
http://sourceforge.net/projects/fidocadj/
(There is also a page on my website, but the server works very
unreliably in this period)
You can download the program from the SourceForge archive (completely
free of charge, of course). Have also a look at the manual, in order
to see what this program can do for you (and what it can not do):
http://sourceforge.net/projects/fidocadj/files/fidocadj_manual_en.pdf/download
If you spot a typo (we are not native English speakers), or an error
in the manual or in the program, any correction is welcomed. I will be
very happy to know what do you think about FidoCadJ. I am also
searching for help: if someone knows Java and wants to work on the
source code, if someone wants to improve the manuals or translate the
program, or just can give an advice, feel free to contact me here on
sci.electronics.basics, in the SourceForge forums or by dropping an
email to me (the address is valid, but no attachments, please).
Regards,
Davide
