I would absolutely agree with this. Rewinding a meter is virtuallyIt might be cheaper and easier to find a old, used (same model) tube tester
on ebay or a garage sale... it doesn't have to be in working condition or
in good cosmetic appearance .... just the meter has to be good.

I would absolutely agree with this. Rewinding a meter is virtually
impossible.

For the ones of you who read German, take a look here in
Dieter Wächter's article, how he wound a new moving coil
for a TV-7A/U with #50 wire (0.025 millimetres thick!)

Imagine getting half way through, and the wire snaps. ARGH!Thank you for finding that very fascinating site. I spent nearly an hour
looking over all of the detailed photos and the photo-diary progress of the
TV-7 restoration.
My feelings are that this guy has way too much time on his hands..... he did
a very nice and thorough job.... and as you pointed out, this is not a job
that most of us would do, especially the meter coil rewinding...
