I don't know were you got that figure.
I was one of the xx% and I don't know the exact numbers.
Altium are not closing their Oz office by the end of the month, it
will remain open as a satellite sales and support office, with a few
R&D staff still present - the ones who didn't want to move to China.

Oh, and Altium Designer is not being discontinued.

Dave.

==========================================

Now you've confused me Dave, from your eev blog I figured you worked in
hardware design, I thought I could recall you showing a board or three you
worked on at "work", not the sort of thing I'd imagine is done at Altium...

Sorry to hear about your job loss, still it could be the start of bigger
things!

What's going on?
I missed all of this.

I have been sleeping in the sun, and basically didn't access a web page or newsgroup for 12 days:
http://dontronics-shop.blogspot.com/2011/04/just-how-good-is-satellite-internet-on.html

I went from years of bishop graphics, using donuts and tape on graph paper, to a computer program called Smartwork.
Wonderful, print it out on a dot matrix printer, and get it etched.

Then this Aussie Protel thing came along and turned the world upside down. Magic. The boards I did in the early days of
my Internet sales (including all of the SimmStick boards) were all done with Protel. Mostly done by me, then I had my
friend Mick do them for me, and I lost track of what Protel was up to.

I'm not going to try and predict what this will mean, but it sounds like a bad move. What will the Chinese change Altium
into? I fear a lot of what was a good product will be lost in interpretation.

As someone else said, I feel Dave Jones will eventually benefit, and make a good gain out of this.

Good luck Dave.

Cheers Don...
