The lens on my akai dht300 is out of alignment (I think)does anyone
know how to get into it's service mode and have it do an auto
alignment, or something similiar? It's freezing up and I'd like to
try and repair it on the cheap... Thanks.

More likely just a bad pickup - they die like flies on DVD players. Sorry,
this probably puts it out of the range of an economical repair.

You could try a proper cleaning before condemning it however.....

Normally the laser lens is relatively accessible, but in any case you'll
need to identify and have physical acess for cleaning, which is an extremely
simple task.

Have two soft cotton swabs ready, one moistened but NOT dripping wet with
90% or better isopropyl alcohol, or regular window cleaner.
GENTLY clean the lens in a rolling motion, follow with the dry swab to get
any residue.

Like I said, it's more often a defective laser.
