Aiwa NSX-V900

I now know having read most of your posts that this is a commen
problem with the Aiwa brand - cd's not being played properly.
I just want to know whether it can or can't play CDR's? It plays
majority of shop bought music CDs, but not all as there are problems
playing other cds aswell.
With the CDR's it almost played two tracks, about 5secs of one and 30
of the other, but nothing since. It does register the track numbers
though of all my CDR's, but just spins continuously and doesn't play.
It needs a service anyway and a clean (I've not done it yet) but I
just want to know whether I should expect this system to play CDR's.

I'm beginning to wonder because my JVC is a lot older than this Aiwa
and plays everythig perfect, so am I right to assume this younger
Aiwa should be able to play CDR's?
I cannot find my manual anywhere or any information on the internet or
the Aiwa website, so I'm hoping someone can answer this question...

CDR's can be a "question mark" with many brands and models of CD players....
new and old. If your AIWA plays just about all the standard store-bought
CDs without a problem then there is very little to fix..... usually any
attempt to fix it so it will play CDRs likely will be unsuccessful AND the
unit may become less reliable with standard store-bought CDs..... my advice
is to leave it alone and play your CDRs on another machine.

I have found that problems playing CD-R discs are almost always involving a
marginal or dirty pickup on the player, and occasionally an out-of-spec
burner.

I would recommend at least a good cleaning - these Aiwa units are dust
magnets.
