Advice on manuals web site

Has anyone here ordered manuals from http://www.electronicsrepair.net?
I need a service manual that they have listed on the web site, but am a bit
apprehensive about ordering it. They have no contact info except an email
address; no address, no phone number, not even which country they are in.
Obviously not an American site, since the text of the web pages was not
written by anyone whose native tongue is English.
The cost of the manual is pretty cheap (only $10 USD), but if the site is a
scam, then I'll avoid it completely.

Wow... I would have bet that it was offshore, from the English usage on the
site. Still, no contact info, so I'm still leery of it.
I'll send an email and see if they will send me their location and phone
number.

Their servers may be in AZ (I show Scottsdale),
but if it's the same bunch, they are Russians: (from 2002)

Still, no contact info, so I'm still leery of it.

Their business model appears to be
selling passwords to locked PDFs: (from 2003)
http://google.com/search?q=cache:rfh1xY1kYZ8J:forums.dvdoctor.net/archive/index.php/t-9137.html+password+Ltd+Ltd+electronicsrepair.net+Ltd+reduced.to.A4&strip=1

What Google Groups' search engine returns:

Well, just because the web site is in AZ, doesn't mean they are! I
guess I should have said that too...

As well, I'm usually reluctant to deal with sites that do not have any
reasonable contact information. I find that to be common with users,
no address is equated to a probable scam.

I've used them in the past and they seem to be on the up-and-up to me.

In one of the orders there was a screw up, what they had listed as a
service manual was a theory of operation manual and after I brought that up
to them they made things right.

It does look like a shady operation but I think they are one of the older
sites still in operation for those kind of things. The longevity says
something.

Yeah, I just looked, the first order from them was in 2003, so they have
been around for six years now.

What might make you uncomfortable is, after you order the manual you'll get
an email to send paypal to some random email address, after that is sent
you'll get another email with a url and password, then you just download it.

So definetly shady in operation but an honest kind of shady.

Thanks to all for the responses to my concern about this vendor. I'm still
a bit shaky on doing business with them, so I'll try yo find the manual I
need from another source.
Specifically, I'm looking for the service manual for a Panasonic model
PV-D4744S VCR/DVD combo unit. I'm thinking my unit has a power supply
problem, but it's hard to figure out without spending lots of time trying to
reverse engineer the circuit. Anyone happen to have a PFD of that manual
that I could download?
Thanks for all the info,

Not a lot, I admit. I just have a problem doing business with a foreign
entity that completely hides their identity, even if they have been in
business for a number of years. It's my $10, and lthough I can easily
afford to buy the manual, I prefer to send it to someone that I can
communicate with in the event of a problem.
I maintain my stance against doing business with
http://www.electronicsrepair.net.

If you don't want to risk $10, how about $5? :)

Thanks for that, Paul. I had already checked your site and searched for the
manual I needed (Panasonic PV-D4744S DVD-VCR combo). I have since bought a
copy from another web vendor.
