Adding earphones to Sony TV

I have a Sony KP 43T90 Projection TV.
I want to add a headphone jack to it so that I can use headphones without
killing the speakers. (I have a hearing problem. My wife does not.)
a)Is there any way of adapting the audio output jacks so that the speakers
continue to work. (Right now it's either or.)
b)Would it be possible to wire a headphone jack into the actual speaker
leads.
At present I put the output of the TV into a VCR and then into a stereo and
use earphones from the stereo. Problem with that is it doesn't work with the
second VCR or the DVD without switching a lot of wires.

Primarily, if the set is not designed with headphone jacks the modifications
required may pose a safety hazard to the user. Suggest getting an IR headset
and connecting the interface to the audio outputs of the set.

Depending on what kinds of inputs and outputs you have on
your stereo receiver, VCRs etc you should be able to come
up with some arrangement that doesn't require switching any
wires.

Instead of running your TV output to your VCR, it would
make more sense to run it the other way, and use one of the
VCR's other audio outputs (most have at least two) to a set
of earphones. A headphone adapter with dual RCA leads
costs about $8 at Radio Shack.

You may well kill yourself - or at the very least, do nasty things to your
earlobes.
